Mother Ireland A/W 2020 Collection

 

As part of Caolum’s Final Major Project, he is investigating his cultural heritage and the personification of his home country Ireland from a woman’s perspective. Fast fashion has become the norm and Caolum’s work is the antithesis of fast fashion and encourages an ethos of conscientious sourcing within his design work. Caolum’s belief is if you save hard for something that is made of love and quality, can be held onto for years, much like an heirloom. As a womenswear designer, Caolum likes to work on a project that is driven by a strong personal narrative. It can include creating an experience, a feeling, an emotion, but most of all he believes fashion should be considered as art, it has as much of an impact as a painting hanging in a gallery, it makes you feel something. The brand was found on many of the ideas and beliefs expressed within his graduate collection "Mother Ireland" which narrates Irish history at time when all sense of culture and identity was lost. Championing modern femininity coupled with sustainable practices and hand craftsmanship making for the modern woman.
